25: Crimson Viper
Easily my favorite new character from Street Fighter 4, C. Viper is one of those characters that presses a lot of my buttons. Red hair, sunglasses, bad-ass suit? Sign me up. I wasn’t wild about her hairstyle at first, but it really grew on me; I think it’s actually pretty clever how it sort of looks like a snake perched on her head, with that one loose strand even looking like it’s sticking its tongue out. But even beyond that, dat pompadour just oozes confidence, much like the rest of her design. And there are few things I find sexier than confidence.
And I also find her genuinely fascinating; she’s Street Fighter’s first playable mom! Hell, I don’t think I could name another mother from any fighting game, not just Street Fighter. I actually found myself wanting to know more about her, like how she balances her crazy secret agent job with her daughter. Her win quote in SF4 where she answers her phone and just squeals, “Hi, sweetie!” (instead of reporting to her supervisors or whatever) just makes my heart melt. I’m really happy that she seems to be the fan favorite from SF4 as well, appearing in MvC3 and SFxMM, because she’s a character I’d love to see even more of.
